My astral projection experience

Let me first preface this by saying that I never believed in out of body experiences (OBE). In fact, there are a lot of things that I didn’t believe in because I never had the physical proof to tell me otherwise. That is until I found myself floating in my bedroom one day. What came after that was a journey of awakening that I wasn’t prepared for.

Why Is The Ceiling So Close?

It all started while I was sleeping in my bedroom and minding my own business. This was in the middle of the day in preparation for my night shift in the ER. It was around noon when I woke up to find the ceiling just a few inches away from my face. The first thing I thought was that I was obviously dreaming. But why was I dreaming this? I’ve had awesome lucid dreams where I turned my shirt into a flying dove, and here I was just dreaming about my ceiling. This was out of the norm. So I started asking questions:

Why is the ceiling so close to me?

Why do I feel like I’m rocking?

Is it still daytime?

Am I sleeping or am I awake?

Did I come out of my body?

As soon as I asked that last question, I snapped back into my body.  When I physically woke up, I tried to sit up and I couldn’t. My entire body was covered in numbness and tingling. It was the same feeling as when your foot falls asleep. A pins and needles type of sensation, also known as paraesthesia. That’s how my entire body felt. It was heavy, I could barely move, and my ears were ringing. After a minute or two, I was able to sit up and digest what just happened to me.

I had an out-of-body experience.

Many people report having OBE’s during a time when their body was undergoing some sort of trauma, like a car accident or surgery. This wasn’t the case for me though. Maybe a combination of working in the emergency room and my poor dating life was enough trauma to make me float around in my bedroom that day.

What The Heck Is Astral Projection?

From that point on, I started to come out of my body regularly. This was mostly happening when I would fall asleep. After doing research on this, I learned that what I was experiencing was called astral projection.

Astral projection is a phenomenon where an individual feels as if their soul or consciousness separates from their physical body, and travels either on the earth or to different dimensions. Most people describe it as a sensation of floating or flying outside of the physical body.

Yup, that was me.

I’ve come to believe that when you spontaneously have an OBE, you don’t really notice it until it’s already happening. But when you purposefully induce it, this is what I would call astral projection. And yes, there is a way to achieve this. (LINK ASTRAL PROJECTION HOW TO)If you’re curious to know what it’s like, check out Behind Her Eyes on Netflix. It’s a fictional story, but gives a good description of what it’s like to astral travel.

It’s Scary…At First

There is a point in which your consciousness or soul separates from your physical body when you astral project. Every time I achieved separation, I felt like I was on a roller coaster. I would get this sinking feeling in my gut, and before I knew it, I was slingshotted out of my body at a high speed. It didn’t seemed like I was going fast. I was going fast!  This was incredibly physical and absolutely terrifying.

This apparently is quite normal. Many people report that at the moment of separation, they feel as if they are physically detaching from their body, which is uncomfortable to say the least. So when people would casually tell me that they felt “so out of their body”, I was skeptical. Unless you felt like something ripped your soul out and then threw it to the other side of the universe, then maybe you were just saying that as an expression.

The Voices

Before I started to have OBE’s, I was hearing voices occasionally before I went to sleep. I was also experiencing sleep paralysis. I didn’t correlate these events until I learned that this was all connected to astral projection.

There are entities everywhere, and I mean everywhere. When you learn how to astral project, your soul can travel to the same dimension in which they reside. These entities can see you attempting to come out of your body, and choose to mess with you in the process. In my experience, I’ve learned that they were just trying to scare me out of my astral travels. They would often say spooky things or whisper in my ear when I was attempting to separate. This was also the case when I was experiencing sleep paralysis. I would either be getting ready to come out of my body, or I had just returned from astral traveling when the sleep paralysis occurred. So, rather than hearing voices, I would feel a presence in the room. Needless to say, this added to the scariness of the whole experience.

You Can’t Stop Me!

This is the part where most people would stop attempting astral projection, out of fear that something bad would happen to them. Fear that some sort of ghost is going to possess them or hurt them when they’re out of their body.

That’s impossible.

Entities can’t come into your body without you inviting them in somehow. It’s also impossible for entities to hurt your physical body without you being fully aware. This is why I snapped back into my body so quickly once I realized that I was having an OBE the first go around. Our physical body is good at alerting our consciousness if it’s in danger. Many people have reported that they quickly awakened from astral traveling simply because their physical body heard a loud noise.  It’s a nice safety mechanism I’d say!

Once I learned that nothing could actually hurt me, I became unstoppable. All I had to do was push through the creepy voices and BOOM…. I was off!

To Infinity and Beyond!

I wasn’t having the usual, astral projection experiences of floating around and spying on my neighbors. I was flying out of my body at high speeds and traveling to different dimensions. Before this, I thought different dimensions were just something from sci-fi movies. But they are 100% real.

My astral projection experience

The first few times I traveled to these dimensions, I went to what looked like parallel universes. I would go to places that looked just like this dimension, but it would be slightly different. Humans would be taller and gangly. Vehicles were in odd shapes. The closest thing that I can compare it to is the movie Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio. These places would look completely normal, until they weren’t. The only reason why I knew that these were different dimensions is because I was physically astral traveling and moving through them.

After that, most of my travel experiences involved me flying either around the Earth or through the universe (this universe that is).  This was a blast. I’m a big fan of roller coasters and high speeds, so this was great! I wasn’t the best at controlling where I could go though. Many people report having the ability to float over to their friends house to see what they were doing. I couldn’t do that, which is probably a good thing.

The Dark Place

The most epic astral travel adventure ended up being my last. One night after I achieved separation, I ended up going to a dark and scary dimension. This place physically looked gloomy and gray. It was crowded and felt like a large number of souls who were sad and angry. It reminded me of the voices that I heard in the beginning of my astral projection experiences. I could never make out exactly what they were saying, but I could tell by the tone that they weren’t happy. On top of that, I was overcome by an intense emotion of despair and sadness. I felt like I was trapped in a deep depression. I was reminded of the movie What Dreams May Come with Robin Williams. In the movie, his character’s wife dies by suicide and then goes to “hell“. Because he also died but was living in heaven, he sets on a mission to go pull her out. The scene of her personal “hell” was exactly what this place felt like.

By the way, when you astral travel, you’ll learn that time isn’t the same as it is in this dimension. What was probably just a few seconds here ends up feeling like months to years in the astral plane. So I felt like I was in this place for a long time, and I don’t care to go back.

Is This Heaven?

After I left that dimension, I shot slightly upwards and went to a place that was the complete opposite of the dark and gloomy place. This other dimension was of bright, white light. It was so bright, I couldn’t  see that far ahead of me. It was blinding, but it didn’t hurt my eyes. This dimension was much more spacious and there were beings there as well, just not as many. They were tall and wearing white cloaks. They weren’t necessarily walking around, but gliding elegantly. These beings weren’t verbal at all, which made this place quiet.

But what stood out the most was the deepest sense of peace that I have ever felt in my life. It was so tranquil and loving, that I don’t think there is actually a word to describe it.

In this dimension, I reached a state of complete enlightenment, peace, and freedom from the cycle of existence. The overwhelming sense of beauty and unconditional love that I felt is indescribable.

 It was complete nirvana.

When I woke up from this experience, I sat up and felt drowsy and heavy (nothing new). But for the first time ever, I saw a bright presence in my room. It was hard to make out exactly what this being was. It looked like a bright, yellow humanoid energy cloud. I couldn’t see its face and I couldn’t tell if it was male or female. What I do know is that it felt welcoming and safe. This was the first time that I saw something like this  in my waking state. I reached my hand out to try to touch it, but the drowsiness took over, and I laid back down and  fell asleep.

Down To Earth

After that night, I had a pretty difficult time inducing astral projection. I tried to understand why I lost this ability. After some reflection, I learned that I needed to come back down to Earth, literally. I can astral project all day and all night, but what does that do for my waking life? I’ve been shown powerful information and what good is that if I’m not here to do something with it?

All of this sounds like a ketamine trip. It seems unbelievable. But there was one time when I astral projected, and it gave me confirmation that what I was seeing was real.

Validation

During one of my later astral traveling experiences, I found myself floating around in Las Vegas. I thought it was Las Vegas because I could see The Stratosphere. This particular event wasn’t as lucid as some of the other ones. This trip was peculiar because it looked like part of the city was on fire. When I woke up, I checked the news to see if there were any fires in Las Vegas that day.

There were none.

There was however, a fire in Seattle, WA. It turns out that I wasn’t looking at The Stratosphere, I was looking at the Space Needle.

I never questioned my astral projection experiences after that.
